“Will of Mary (x) LEDBETTER  23 Nov 1778   26 Jul 1779
‘sick and weak in body’
2 hogsheads of tobacco that I left in the hands of my son Isaac LEDBETTER ; when 
I moved down to the place where I now live’ to be sold with enough of my estate 
to pay my debts.
  To my eldest son Isaac – Negro fellow Thomas, L5.
  To my son George – all my land on the south side of Little Creek up to Nathan 
HARRIS’ land, joining DUGLAS’S (DOUGLAS) High Hill, Rattlesnake Creek, JORDAN’S 
road; also Negro boy Herculas.
   Since there is likely to be a contract between my daughter Mary the late wife 
of John BRAKLEY, dec’d & my son Richard LEDBETTER, then if my said daughter 
gives to my son Richard a title to land on Broad in North Carolina where John 
BRADLEY, dec’d formerly lived, then I give my land & plantation not already 
given away to my said daughter, but should she make no title to my said son 
Richard LEDBETTER, then I give the said land & plantation to my said son 
Richard.
  To my son Richard – Negro girl Pegg.
  To my daughter Elizabeth WILLIAMS _ Negro boy Ned.
  To my daughter Mary the late wife of John BRADLEY, dec;d – Negro fellow 
Sissax, wench Junes, & boy Woodley.
  To my granddaughter Mary BRADLEY – Negro or mulatto girl Doll.
  To my daughter Sarah MIRICK (MYRICK) – L2300.
  To each of my 3 daughters – 1 deep dish & pewter basin.
  Other provisions.
Ex:  My son George LEDBETTER, my daughter Mary BRADLEY.
Wit:  Gideon HARRIS, Patience (x) LANE, Catherine (x) HARRIS.”
