I, Andrew CALDWELL of Spartanburg Dist. Being now of sound mind and memory, but weak in body. First I direct that all my just debts paid. I give the home place to my son William K. P. CALDWELL, also that portion of my other tract known as "Upper Place" that lies West of Cubb branch, said branch to be the line. I also give William my Negro boy Tom, to be held by him during his life, then to his heirs forever. I give to my son John Y. CALDWELL and his heirs forever all that portion of my "Upper Place" that lies East of Cubb branch. I direct my executors to sell my Negro boy named Sampson and to pay to and to pay to my dtr. Minevra MC CARLEY the money collected. I also desire my executors to sell Negroes Eliza, and her two children Jim and the infant Allice, and my Negro man Joe, Eliza and her chn. To be sold together. They are to sell all my household furniture, except my beaureau and book case, which I reserve for my dtr. Margaret. After paying my just debts and funeral expenses, the proceeds to be divided equally among all my chn. I give to my dtr. Margaret the Negro girl Missouri to my dtr. Jane WILLIS, my Negro Harriet, which is now in her possession. I appoint my two sons John Y. CALDWELL and William K. P. CALDWELL as executors.dated 31 August 1854. Wit: J. H. VANDICK, G. A. WEBBER, the following Negroes, Elizer and her four chn; Solomon, Jack, Daniel and Ellen also Negro boy named Smith, and one Negro girl named Lizzy. To be held by him for the use and support of my dtr. During her natural life, and at her death to her children. I will to my son George R. CALDWELL one Negro woman named Harriet and her two sons, Peter and Gains, one Negro man named Hampton. I desire that my son to take the home tract, whereon I now live at the valuation of $3500, if he refuses to take it, then it to become part of my estate. I give to my dtr. Margaret R. CALDWELL one Negro woman named Rachel and her five chn. Joe, Westley, Willie, Dave and Della, also one Negro girl named Caroline. I will to my granddaughter Virginia Pickens MAYNARD one negro boy named Jeff, she is to have an equal share with my other children. I desire that $200 to be put on interest, with the interest paid annually paid to Mount Moriah Church until my granddaughter Virginia P. MAYNARD arrives of age or marry. CALDWELL your orator uncle and Standmore B. BROOKS as executors, only the former alone qualified. In said will his mother was given certain Negroes in trust, with her brother as trustee. Your orator mother Ann E. WEBBER and three chn. To wit. Your orator the eldest now eight years of age, with two sisters, Sarah C. WEBBER and Edna E. WEBBER, the former about six yrs., the latte about four yrs of age. Your orator father has a fixed intention of removing from this State, and intends to deliver the slaves to the trustee George R.
