“Page 230.  Will of Holloway W. DANIEL of 
York District…To William Benjamin DUNLAP $100.  
The balance of my property to be equally divided 
one half to my brothers John and William and 
sister’s children, the other half to my wife.  
I appoint my brother Joseph J. DANIEL, exr.  
11 Jan 1851.  Holloway W. DANIEL (LS).  
Wit:  Jas A. C.ARK, Harvey H. DRENNAN, 
Thos. W. STURGIS*.”

 

“Will of Mary BRUMFIELD of the District of York…
to my son in law Thomas WHITESIDES one half of my 
plantation whereon I now reside including the 
improvements, and at his death to be equally 
divided between his sons James, John and 
Austin WHITESIDES.  
To my son George BRUMFIELD all my Negroes, viz, 
Peggy, Stephen, Amy, Leander & Bonnaparte, on 
condition that he pay to my executor $1200.

My executor shall sell the balance of my daughter 
Violet NEELY $600, and to each of my daughters 
Harriet DANIEL & Elizabeth THARP $350, and the 
balance of my estate equally between my daughters 
Elizabeth, Harriet (DANIEL), Violet & Mary.  
I appoint J. M. ANDERSON, executor, 6 Oct 1854.  
Mary BRUMFIELD (X) (LS).  Wit:  W. J. RICE, 
R. P. WHITE, J. BREM.  Proved by the oath of 
David J. RICE 14 Dec 1854.  
Qualified J. M. ANDERSON as executor 14 Dec 1854.”

Will of James DANNAL of District aforesaid…

To my daughter Susan STURGES* a Negro girl which 
she has now in possession.  

To my son Wm DANNAL my man named Kiney.  

To my daughter Hannah my Negro boy Joe, one bed, 
3 coverlids, one white cow.  

To my daughter Cinthey one Negro girl named Harriet.  

To my daughter Elizabeth one Negro boy Si.  
My land, my Negro woman Ann, my stock of every kind, 
household furniture, plantation tools, etc. to be 
sold to pay debts.  To my son Franklin one third of 
the price of what my land may sell for.  

The other two thirds of the price of the land with 
other property directed to be sold to be equally 
divided amongst my three youngest children Sinthey, 
John, Elizabeth, James DANNAL (LS).  Wit:  John CAUTHEN, 
James HUTCHESON, Leroy Hutcheson, David HUTCHESON.”
