I, Thomas HEALY, of M, being in perfect health, of as sound mind as usual. To my wife, Sarah – should she live when I am no more, I give her the use of all my lands which I may hereafter give to my sons George and Robert. Also 2 yoke of oxen, 6 cows & calves from my stock, 12 ewes from my flock of sheep, 2 sows and 12 other hogs from my stock of hogs. Also her choice of horses, my single gig, 2 beds and furniture, 2 tables, the chairs, tables & teaspoons, etc… Also the following Negroes she holds for life under the (will) of John MITCHELL, dec’d, George, James, Molly, and her child, Lewis, Betty and her child, Old Sarah, and young Sarah. The land I bought of the MILLERS in Pinetop, containing 337 acres, I have …deed of gift of already…recorded in M. (M=Middlesex Co,VA.) To my son, Thomas – also ___to my said son, 4…(viz) James, Robin, Alexander, ____which said Negroes he had received from me already. Also 48 L 18 shillings…of which was his purchase at the sale of my son, William’s estate, and L15.3.3., a sum which I paid to Elizabeth MONTAGUE, administratrix of William MONTAGUE, dec’d his securityship for Thomas T MONTAGUE. To my son George – the plantation whereon I live, as here explained, the tract which I purchased of DILLARD’S heirs, said to contain 162 acres, a small piece which I purchased of Benjamin KIDD, said to contain 10 acres, the tract I purchased of Thomas MUSE __by James HEALY, Jr surveyed as 203 acres. Also…small tract which…the land lying…up the County Road above my little peach orchard, etc… I also give my said son the following slaves: Gowen, William, & June. I also give the one half my claim in the Negroes I purchased of John MITCHELL, which is one third the Negroes my wife Sarah holds under the will of John MITCHELL, dec’d. To my son, Walter – the tract of land I bought from Dam__OPIE (?) from Charles REID___a piece from Robert STUMPF … heirs 2 pieces from Robert BEVERLEY, a piece…MUSE, and the balance of SMITH’S tract which lies on…north side of the main county road leading to new dragon Bridge, and joining the land gave my son George, the whole containing about 660 acres, etc… Also, the choice of following Negroes: boy Stephen, George known by the name of George MC KOWN, James, Betty and Alice. To Robert – land …following Negroes: Beverly, George, the son of Esbell, George, Londen, Sarah and her daughter, Maria. To my granddaughter Eliza JONES – a Negro girl named Lucinda. To William, Thomas, Edmund, Eliza, and Lewis JONES, children of my deceased daughter, Elizabeth JONES – the following Negroes: Frank, Milly, Criss with her 2 youngest children, Caesar & Martha, to be equally divided between them when they arrive at the age of 21 or marry, on condition they never call on my estate for a Negro woman named, Suckey, which I had given their mother in her life, and allowed the said woman, Suckey, to be appraised in the estate of GABRIEL JONES, dec’d, which from…bad behavior of said woman Suckey, I sold her. Now if any claim should be made on my estate with respect to Suckey, Lucinda, Milly, Criss, Cae___(Caesar?), and Martha, with their increase, to return to my estate & be equally divided among all the legatees. To my daughter Ann MONTAGUE – I lend her, during her natural life, the following Negroes: Mary, Milly, Fann, Jack, and their increase. And after the death of Ann, I give the above Negroes and increase, to be equally divided between the children she now has (Viz) Tom, Edmund. I also give Ann a yoke of oxen, etc… To my daughter Sarah STIFF (STITH?) - …the following Negroes, to wit, a young woman named Esbell & her child, which Wm STIFF has already in his possession. Also a boy named Tom, Harry, and Esther. After the death of my said daughter, Sarah STIFF, I give the said Negroes and increase, to be divided among my said daughter’s children. To the children of my dec’d daughter, Frances ROBINSON – the following Negroes: Harry, Nancy, & 3 children, which Negroes are now in possession of William ROBINSON already. Also a Negro boy named Sam, to be equally divided between them. To Jane BLAKEY, daughter of my daughter Jane, dec’d – 2 Negroes, to wit, a boy by name of Reuben & girl by name of Polly. Should Jane BLAKEY die without lawful issue, the said Negroes and increase of Polly to return to my estate and be equally divided between the future offspring of my daughters, Elizabeth JONES, ___MONTAGUE, Frances ROBINSON, and Sarah STIFF.
