   February 14, 1735.  January 10, 1737.  
Sons:  Daniel, Samuel, David (‘my plantation’), 
William JOAB (‘long glade tract of land’).  Daughters:

Ruth, Ann and Elisabeth JACKSON.  Wife and Executrix:  Ann.  
Executors:  Zacharias and Samuel JACKSON (sons).  
Witnesses:  Wm. SIMSON, Jr., John SIMSON, Jr.   
Clerk of the Court:  Jos. SMITH.  
Justice of the Peace:  James CRAVEN.”

“David JACKSON  planter  12 Sep 1715   O  9 Jan 1717

Of Little River.  ‘Sick and weak in body’

Wife Mary JACKSON – Negro woman Sarah.  
Daughter Elizabeth JACKSON – Negro girl Jenny.  

Son Thomas JACKSON – Negro girl Doll; my land when he 
is age 21 but my wife to live on said land during her life; 
should she marry, then son Thomas to be free at age 18.  

Cousin Lucy JACKSON – 60 acres joining Sammel NORTHY, 
Vall (?) Branch, Old Carts Bridge, Old School Hoose (sic).  

Brother William DAVIS – heifer, when he is age 18.  

Brother SAMUEL JACKSON – vest & ‘breeches.’  
Other legacies.  Ex:  wife Mary JACKSON

Son Thomas – 640 acres where I now live & my wife to 
enjoy it during her life.  

Daughter Elizabeth CHESTER – 1sh.  

Daughter Rachel ADAMS – 1sh. (1 shilling).  


Daughter Margrett – cow.  

Son Thomas to live with his mother until he is age 21, 
but should she die then he to live with Jno. JORDAN 
until age 21.  Ex:  wife Elizabeth JACKSON.

Daughter Ruth DAVIS – ewes, pewter dish.  

Wife Elizabeth – Negro woman Jane.  

Sons Zachariah & David JACKSON – land where I now live.  

Sons Daniel & SAMUEL JACKSON – land on Herrin Creek Swamp.  

Said 4 sons – rest of my estate.  

Son Daniel to be at age now.

Son Daniel JACKSON – silver spoon, vest, britches, & what 
I have already given.  

Son Zacharias JACKSON – bottles & what I have already given.  

Son SAMUEL JACKSON – silver spoon & what I have already given.  

Son David JACKSON – the plantation where I now live.  

Son William JACKSON – the neck of land.  

Son Joab JACKSON – the long glade tract.  

Wife Ann – the use of the rest of my movable estate & after 
her decease then to Ruth, Ann, David, Elizabeth, William & 
Joab JACKSON.  

Ex:  Wife Ann JACKSON, son Zacharias JACKSON, SAMUEL JACKSON.  

Wit:  William (x) SIMSON, Jr, John (x) SIMSON, Jr, Jean (x) BUNDY (female).

Probated Pasquotank Co.  A further note indicates that 
23 June 1743 Zacharias & Sam’ll JACKSON appeared in 
Chowan Co & took the oath of executorship before James CRAVEN.”

 

“Samuel JACKSON the Elder   3 Dec 1748  O  19 Jan 1748 
(before Gab Johnston) (Gov)   Of Pasquotank Co.  
‘sick and weak of body’

Son John JACKSON  - the upper part of my land.  

Son Joshua JACKSON – remainder of my land.  

Daughter Elisabeth BENTON – heifer.  

Daughter Miriam POOL – 1 ewe.  

Daughter Mary CARTWRIGHT – flax.  

Daughter Magdalen DELANY – sow.  

Daughter Mary Anne LOVEL – iron pot.  

Wife Elizabeth – use of certain personal property.  
Other legacies & provisions.  

Ex:  son John & Joshua JACKSON.  
Wit:  Abraham (x) RANKHORN, Samuel (x) BENTON*, 
Joseph ROBINSON.”

   *Note:  Samuel BENTON of NC was the name of 
Thomas Hart BENTON, the famous lawyer who dueled with 
Andrew JACKSON.

Son Ace JACKSON – land I bought from Thomas HARRIS.  

Should they die without issue, then reversion to 
their sister Darcus JACKSON; should Simon die without 
heir then reversion to my son Lamuel JACKSON.  

Wife Elizabeth – to live on my land for her lifetime.  
Ex:  Brother William & Joab JACKSON, wife Elizabeth.
