Will of, Richmond County, GA Source: Edgefield County, SC Wills, 1787-1836 by James E. and Vivian Wooley, p. 281 Submitted by Audrey Pool “P. 281. 2 June 1828…I, Anderson WATKINS, of Richmond County, State of Georgia, now in tolerable health & in sound mind & memory. I desire that my just debts be paid. I give to my executors hereafter named the sum of $5000 in trust for the use & benefit of Nancy HURISTON a fine woman of color formerly of this place now of Huntsville, Alabama to her & her heirs forever. I give to my beloved wife Catherine WATKINS the one half of my est. both real & personal giving her the choice of the property. I give to my executors the sum of $5000 in trust to invest in a house in the city of Augusta, GA. Also 50 shares of ‘the Capital Stock of the Bank of Augusta’. Also the Negroes named, Winney, Sarah, Jerry & Roseann also Caroline, also a tract of land known as #240 in the 3rd District of Dooly County drawn by my nephew Leonidas WATKINS in trust for my niece Eveline S. WATKINS, wife of Robert WATKINS & her children forever. I give to the warden and vestry men of St Paul’s Church of Augusta & their succeeders (sic) in offices all the debts due me of every kind also fifty shares of ‘Capital Stock of the Bank of Augusta’ to the support of an Episcopal Clergyman whilst officiating in St Paul Church or may to be used & applied & benefit of the free schools of Augusta. I give to the managers of the Free Schools Society of Augusta fifty shares of the Capital Stock Bank of Augusta, with only the Capital Stock with only the interest taken annually. I give to my executors 50 shares of the Capital Stock Bank of Augusta the interest for the use & benefit of my nephew George Claborn WATKINS, son of my dec’d brother Isaac WATKINS for the education & support of said nephew until he is of full age then the said stock to be delivered to him. I desire that the remainder of my estate both real & personal equally divided amongst the children of my brother George WATKINS & the children of my sister Polly Hughes NUCKLES of Kentucky & the children of my dec’d brother Isaac WATKINS of Arkansas Territory to share and share alike. I give to my executors the sum of $500 to be applied to their own use for carring (sic) out this my last will. I appoint my friends John BANES, William SMITH & Paul FEVE.
