Will of, Greene County, PA November 3, 1800 Transcribed and Submitted by Bill Davison Will of John Swan deceased (No 36) In the Name of God Amen, I John Swan of Seineor of Cumberland township Green County and State of Pennsylvania, Farmer, being in good health of body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament- that is to say-principally and first of all I give and recovered (?) my Soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried desant Christian Burial at the discrecion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurection I shall receive the same again, by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate, wherewith it has pleased God to ? me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, I give and bequeath to Elizabeth, my Swan my dearly beloved wife the Plantation I now dwel in kown by the name of Roach together with all my Negroes Goods and Chattles thereunto belonging during her Widowhood for her life time. Itim, I give and bequeath to my youngest son William Swan the before mentioned Plantation whereon I now live on, known by the name of Rock aforesaid to be fully possessed by him the said William Swan my youngest son immediately after the death of his mother the said Elizabeth Swan acepting and reserving to my sons Charles Swan, Richard Swan, William Swan and Elizabeth Hughes as follows, that all my moveable pro[perty goods and chattels to be divided equally betwen the said said Charles Swan Richard Swan, William Swan and Elizabeth Hughes, also I do give and bequeathe to my Daughters namely, Sarah Hughes, Marthy Hughes, and Mary Isacks the sum of One hundred hundred Dollars each in property to be levied out of my Estate and to be paid to them at the death of their Mother Elizabeth Swan by my Executors and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments, Wills, Legaces, Bequesths and Executors by me in any wise before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. I do here nominate and appoint my three sons Charles Swan, Richard Swan, and William Swan, whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred.
