Jesse Wilson (Lucrecia Griffith7, Methusalem1) was born on 10 Feb 1776 and died on 29 Sep 1820 in Dallas County, Alabama. The Will is now recorded in Dallas County, Alabama, in Will Book A, page 49, havingbeen copied ( "brought from" ) Book B of Appraisements on 10 Sept 1828 by a county clerk. Signatures were proved 24 October 1820. General Notes: Is on the Anderson County, Tennessee tax list of 1802. Moved to Shelby County, Alabama about 1816. There are references to his having been a founder of Montevallo, Alabama. In the Name of God Amen I Jessee Wilson of Shelby County, Alabama State, being sick and low in body but sound in mind and memory and knowing that it is once appointed for all men to die, have made this my last Will and Testament. (Item First) I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Betsey during here widowhood and if she should marry, she is to have her lawful part, of the following (viz) One negro man Charles, one negro woman Nelly, one negro boy Andrew, one negro boy Wesley, one negro boy Isaiah, one girl Elvira, one girl Emily, one boy Calvin. Also one negro woman Rachael, one negro woman Fanny, one negro woman Mary, one negro boy Moses, one negro boy Spencer. Also all the increase of the above negroes. Also all the household furniture. Also four head of horses, (viz) Old Rhone horse, Big Bay Mare, Sorrell Horse, and Poney. Also six head of cows and calfs. Also the stock of hogs and sheep; Also one waggon and geers. Also all the farming utensils belonging to the farm. Also 2 quarter sections of land lying in the Pleasant Valley, (viz) One quarter section North East Number 5 Township 17 of Range No. 11 One quarter section North West Number 4 Township 17 of Range No. 11 of lands offered for sale at Cahaba dated 18 March 1819. (Item Second) I will and bequeath to my son William one negro boy named London and at the death of or marriage of the widow, he is to have an equal half proportion of the two above named quarter sections of land, agreeable to quality and quantity to be split from east to west. (Item Third) I will and bequeath to all my Daughters (viz) Nancy, Lucretia, Betsey, Hannah, Lydia, Patsey, and Mariah, each of them to have one negro ( out of the stock of the above named negroes) each equal in value, when they marry or leave their mother, when they arrive at age. (Item Fourth) I will and bequeath to my son Jessee one negro (equal in value to William) out of the above stock of named negroes, and at the death, or marriage of the widow, he is to have an equal half proportion of the two above named quarter sections of land agreeable to quality and quantity to be split from east to west. (Item Fifth) I will and bequeath to my sister Nancy Baker one sorrell filly, 2 years old. (Item Sixth) I empower William Blevins to sell the two remaining quarter sections of land lying in the Pleasant Valley, and my remaining interest in the Town of Selma, for the use of my heirs and creditors. (Item Seventh) I do appoint Francis McWhorter and Bennett Ware and William Blevins my Executors.
