I, Nathan TROTTER, being sick but of sound mind & memory. First I desire that all my just debts be paid. Then I give to my beloved wife Negroes viz: Fanny, George, Joseph & Phillis during her life time & at her death to be equally divided among my heirs. I give to my son, Joseph TROTTER one Negro man named Jerry. I give to my dtr. Lyda (Lydia?) WEAVER one Negro named Abrum. I give to my son Thomas TROTTER one Negro named Washington. I give to my dtr. *Betsy one Negro named Jim. I give to my dtr. Naoma (Naomi?) a Negro woman named Hannah. I give to my dtr. Patsy one Negro named Nellie. I give my dtr. Lucinda one Negro named Harriet. I give to my son Wesly one Negro named Elbert. I desire that my executors have the Negroes I have given to the above named children valued & to make my dtrs. *Polly TAYLOR and Nelly MAULDIN equal to the rest. I give to my beloved wife one horse & one mare, five cows, three calves, two beds & furniture, and at her death to be the property of Wesly TROTTER forever. I give to my son Joseph TROTTER a tract of land beginning on Gray CHUNEY line. I give to my son Thomas TROTTER all the land on the other side of Panthers Branch. I also give to Wesly TROTTER part of Gray's land joining whereon I now live. I give to William & Lorenzo TROTTER 100 acres of land each to be laid out for them from the BUIS tract. I desire that my son Joseph TROTTER shall pay $50 to my executors to be equally divided between my strs. *Betsy (This is prob. Polly) TAYLOR & Nelly MAULDEN likewise my son Thomas shall pay the same amount to my dtrs. Above named. Also my dtr. Lydia WEAVER to account for property valued at $50 as part of her portion of this will. I desire that my dtr. Betsy CLARK to account for the sum of $40 as her part of this will. I desire that a tract of land known as WARD'S containing 100 acres to be sold & the money to pay my dtrs. Polly TAYLOR & Nelly MAULDEN portion is made up & the balance to be equally divided amongst my children. I appoint my son Joseph TROTTER, Hugh WEAVER & Robert HEARD as executors. Wit: John B. Codicil: I give unto my beloved wife the following property two bales of cotton, two black sows, eleven pigs, & eight other hogs not of the best quality, six head of sheep, two of the best spinning wheels & also plantation tools.
