“James M. NICHOLSON  7 Feb 1809   Nov Ct 1809

Wife Mary NICHOLSON – Negroes Seally, Phillis, Henry, Isham; 
lend to her Harry & his wife Silvy with their 2 youngest (Auslan & Ben); 
lend to her land where I now live &, at her death, it to 
my daughter Eliza Ann NICHOLSON & the child ‘my said wife Mary 
is now pregnant with’; reversion to my brothers Guilford & 
Thomas NICHOLSON if both children should die. 
 
To said 2 children my land on north side of Fishing Creek in 
Halifax County, called the BUTTS & ETHERIDGE* places, with said reversion.  

To said 2 children – Ishamela, Tom, Lymus, Maxwell, Eady, Mary, Charlott, 
Amy, Nathan, Charles; & after wife’s death Harry, Silvy, Austan, Ben. 
 
Executors to sell the THROWER place in Halifax County. 
 
Executors to treat Negro Harry with respect & give him $10 per year, etc.  

Ex:  friends, father in law William ARRINGTON, brother Thomas NICHOLSON.  

Wit:  Wm. MC GREGOR, Mills(x WHITLEY.”
