To my loving son, Frederick ROSE my plantation on the Nap of Reeds Creek West all the tract of land containing 300 acres, 6 head of cattle, 3 sows & pigs to be delivered at 21 years of age. To my loving son, William ROSE my lower tract of land on the Nap of Reeds Creek know by the name Sara ELWOOD’S place, 6 head of cattle, four sows and pigs to be delivered to him at 21 years of age. To my loving son, Howel ROSE all my land and plantation where on I now live (only his mother is to have use of the said plantation during her lifetime) and to be totally his at her death. To my loving daughter Sarah WILLIAMS 10 pounds proclamation money to be paid out of the Estate when it can be paid without hurting the Estate. To my loving daughter, Elisabeth ROSE 40 pounds proclamation money to be paid out of the Estate at the age of 21 years of age or marriage, 5 head of cattle now at Robert SORRIEL’S. To my loving daughter Patty ROSE my Negro child Ruth, 20 pounds proclamation money to be delivered at the age of 21 years or marriage. Lend to my loving wife Anne ROSE my two old Negroes Dick and Gade, my houses, tools, three beds and furniture with all the rest of my stock and household furniture except my two rifle guns and pork hogs and beef which is to be sold to pay debts. After her death or marriage to fall to my son, Howel except setting up Frederick and William with such as working tools, pots & pans, & c; all the rest to fall to him. January Court 1769 James LANGSTON and James WILLIS made oath they saw William ROSE execute this his will.” Submitter's Notes: 1.I’m guessing this is the same ROSE family of Surry and Brunswick Counties, VA. We have a connection to ROSE through the STROUD line. 2.Note the LANGSTON name as witnesses and executor. LANGSTON is a SC name as well.
