Will Book 5, Brunswick County, VA:

 

"Will of Daniel HUFF   19 Apr 1773   24 Nov 1777
Of Meherrin Parish.

To my 2 youngest sons Lewis & James HUFF - all the land I now possess 
being 460 acres; James to have the plantation & houses where I now live 
& Lewis the other part, the line to join Hogg Pen Branch; should my 
son James die without heir, then my son Reubin to inherit his part; 
should my son Lewis die without heir then my son Phillomon to inherit 
his part.

To my wife Mary - my personal estate during her lifetime or 
widowhood & after her decease or marriage, my debts are to be 
paid & my estate to be divided among all my children & my granddaughter 
Tabitha HUFF to have an equal part at that time with my own children.

Ex:  my wife Mary HUFF, my son Daniel HUFF.

Wit:  John HAMMACK, Daniel BURNETT.

A further probate occurred 23 Mar 1778 when Mary HUFF qualified with
* William HOLLOWAY her security."  *Note:  This must be Asa's father, 
William HOLLOWAY who died in 1784.  (aep)

 

"Appraisal of the estate of Daniel HUFF, dec'd 23 Jul 1778 as by 
court order dated 1778.  Included was Negro Dinah.  Appraised by 
William HOLLOWAY, William GUNN, John BARKER.  Returned to Court 26 Oct 1778."

 

Will Book 6, Brunswick County, VA, 1795-1804:

 

"Will of Daniel HUFF   23 Oct 1795   29 Dec 1795

'in a low State of Health'

To my wife Southy - lend to her during her life or widowhood 
Negro(es) Gillas, Lucy, James, Will, Clowey, Juner; also the 
home plantation with the lands on the lower run of the Pigeon Roost, 
with as much of the stock & plantation utensils 'she sees Cause to keep'.

My land on the east side of Samuel MOOSLEY'S (MOSELY) Spring Branch 
known by the name of Kittles BECKS & my wagon to be sold to pay my debts.

To my daughter Milly BERRY - all the property I lent to her after 
her marriage.

To my 2 sons William & Lundy HUFF - all (torn) lands.

To my 4 youngest children - after wife (torn), the tract of land I 
lent to her.

To my 2 eldest sons & my 4 youngest children, namely, William, 
Lundy, Elizabeth, Daniel, Southy & Oliv(torn) - the rest of my estate 
with the property lent to my wife during her widowhood but 
excepting the land.

Ex:  my 2 eldest sons William & Lundy HUFF.

Wit:  Wm S. BALLARD, Balaam EZELL, William KNIGHT.

Probate indicates that the executors qualified with 
*Asa HOLLOWAY, *James HUFF, & Nathan FLETCHER their securities."

 

"Inventory & appraisal of the estate of Daniel HUFF, dec'd, 10 Feb 1796.

Names Negroes.  Appraised by Peter READ, Asa HOLLOWAY, Samuel MOSELY*.

Returned to Court 24 Oct 1796 by William HUFF exce & Southy HUFF, 
excrx."  *Note:  Samuel MOSELY's daughter, Abigail married 
Silas HOLLOWAY of Surry County, VA.  (aep)

Daniel HUFF, George WHITE, John WHITE, Ludwell WORSHAM*.
