Daniel Family Wills, Granville County, NC Source: Original Wills of Granville Co, NC by Timothy Rackley Submitted by Audrey Pool Source: Original Wills of Granville Co, NC by Timothy Rackley DANIEL: “James DANIEL of Granville County, North Carolina, 10 October 1785 To my son John DANIEL a piece of land supposed to be 210 acres ‘beginning corner Swet Gum in my Mill pon(d), thence running by an old line of marked trees a North course to a corner White Oak, thence by a new line nearly and East course to the head of a small branch, thence down that to the middle fork of ANDERSON’S Swamp as to the old line, thence by that line South to Philemon HAWKINS’ line, thence his line to ANDERSON’S Swamp, thence down the Creek to the first station, Negro man Cuffee, and four head of cattle. To my son Williams DANIEL a piece of land supposed to be 210 acres; beginning at a corner White Oak, thence by a line of marked trees nearly a North course to the Old School House Spring Branch, thence up that to the head, thence by a line of Marked trees nearly an East course to the head of the Deep Spring Branch, thence down that to the middle fork or the old line, thence along the old line South to a new line of marked trees as described for John (DANIEL), thence by his line to the first station, Negro lad Ceasar & girl Silvie, a stearn mare colt & 4 head of cattle. To receive the Negro Silvie after his mother’s death. To my son Reuben DANIEL a piece of land supposed to be 210 acres; beginning on the Creek at the mouth of a small branch called the Old School House Spring Branch, thence down the Creek to the back line, thence by the said back line East to a corner, thence South to the line that is described for Williams (DANIEL), thence by his line and the School House Branch to the first station, Negro girl Hanner, a mare called the Bouten mare, 2 head of cattle. The colt in the mare is reserved for my daughter Ann. To my son Richard DANIEL after my wife’s decease a piece of land 210 acres including the dwelling and out house where I now live, Negro boy Frank, the old black mare’s colt. To my son Joseph DANIEL Negro man Sam, my Mill and two acres of land on each side of the same, my stallion, still, 2 cows & 50 pounds in money to rebuild the mill. My son in law Edmund SMITH Negro boy Sam. Lend to my daughter Mary ROYSTER during her life 3 Negroes Big Rose, Judy, & Delce and after her death to be equally divided between her 3 daughters Lucy, Polly, & Beckey. If either of the children die before coming of age or not have issue, the survivors to share to whole. If they should all die, the rest of her children equally divide the Negroes. To my daughter Ann DANIEL Negro girls Phillis and Milly, the colt the Boulten mare now has in her. To my son in law David ROYSTER 10 shillings. To my beloved wife Sarah DANIEL during her natural life the house and land that in within described for my son Richard (DANIEL), 8 Negroes Old Frank & Hanner, Robin, Joe, Esther, Ben, Little Rose, & Silvie, 5 horse kind named Dick, Bone, Bob, Snip, & the Statesman mare, my wagon and all my stock of cattle, sheep, & hogs, household furniture and plantation tools. My wife give each of my children that lives with me a bed and furniture when they come of age out of her furniture above mentioned. After my wife’s decease the cattle lent to her be equally divided between Richard & Ann, Williams have the Negro Silivie, the rest of the property lent be equally divided among my daughter except Mary ROYSTER. I am informed that I did some years past make of Deed of Gift to my daughter Elizabeth DUDLEY, wife to Christopher DUDLEY, Negro wench Hannah with her increase. The rest of my estate to my beloved wife Celia DANIEL during her natural life or widowhood, then I give my son Martan DANIEL. My brother William DANIEL my Executor.
